Lacks Cancer Center Personal Care Team

As a part of our multidisciplinary approach, we provide you with your own personal team of committed caregivers. A wide-ranging group of skilled specialists who deliver focused care throughout your treatment — and, often, beyond.

These professionals include:

   Cancer Resource Specialist
Available to assist you with the emotional and practical aspects of cancer care by both counseling you and linking you to a wide variety of community resources including transportation, support groups, financial assistance, cancer information and housing.

Certified Genetic Counselor
During a typical visit, a genetic counselor will review the patient's family and personal history, and assess their risk of carrying an inherited cancer gene. For some patients, genetic testing will be recommended. Learn more about Cancer Genetic Counseling.

Clinical Financial Consultant (CFC)
The Clinical Financial Consultant (CFC) assists patients with the financial aspects of receiving cancer care. Financial distress is the number one concern of cancer patients, therefore the CFC attempts to lessen the financial burden and improve access to care during their treatment. Patients may request to meet with the CFC if they are concerned about the financial implications of receiving cancer care.

Dietitian
As a part of your personal treatment team, you are assigned a dietician who will assess your nutritional needs, help you maintain proper weight and body mass and assist with side effects management.

Holistic Practitioners
Inpatients receive complimentary holistic services such as acupuncture, massage and music therapies to help manage side effects and promote recovery.

Oncology Clinical Pharmacist
This cancer specialist works with you and your treatment team to customize your treatment plan in relation to medications, as well as to present solutions to treatment-related pain management and symptom control.

Spiritual Care Coordinator
Available to assist you with the spiritual aspects of cancer care through counseling; and linking you to community spiritual care resources and programs in the community. Learn more about Spiritual Care.
